Risk associated with occurrence of toxic elements in the environment surrounding landfills in An Giang Province, Vietnam

The study aimed to evaluate the concentration of potentially toxic elements in soil samples landfill sites An Giang province. Eighty-eight were collected from five landfills. including Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, and As analysed compared with National technical regulations on allowable limits heavy metals soils. A cluster analysis was applied identify sampling similar properties. ecological potential risk index used determine landfills ecosystem. results showed that four out detected soil, their decreased order Zn > Cu Pb As. Most element concentrations within limits, except for some positions. unsanitary higher than a sanitary landfill; however, level low. occurrence around affects ecosystems as well human health. Therefore, it is necessary prevent effect surrounding environments.
